NEON SWARM

Privacy Policy

NEON SWARM is a game about tiny robots, not about you. This page explains exactly what the game and this website collect, why, who handles it, how long it is kept and how to get rid of it.

Last updated: 30 October 2026Applies to: NEON SWARM 0.9.1 (test version) for iOS and Android, and neonswarm.dev

The short version

  • No email, no real name, no password, no contacts. The game uses an anonymous player account.
  • We store your online save and your leaderboard entries so the online features work.
  • No ads in the current version. No advertising ID. No tracking across apps. No data sold.
  • Payments go through Apple or Google. We never see your card or bank details.
  • You can erase everything from inside the game, or ask us by email.

01Who we are

NEON SWARM is developed and published by Erezia (Astrotix), an independent game studio based in France ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

Legal form, registration number and postal address: [to be completed: legal form, SIRET, postal address]. The same details are on the Legal notice page.

02What the game collects, and why

The game works offline. When your phone is connected, it uses Unity Gaming Services (a game backend run by Unity Technologies) for the features below. Here is everything, in one table.

DataWhat exactlyWhyLegal basis (GDPR)
Anonymous player account A random player ID created automatically the first time the game connects. No email, name or phone number is asked for. To link your save, purchases and leaderboard entries to the same player. Performance of a contract (providing the game you asked for)
Online save (Cloud Save) Your progress, coins, gems, owned and equipped items, and game preferences. So your progress and purchases are not lost and stay consistent with the server. Performance of a contract
Monthly leaderboard The nickname you choose (Latin alphabet), your best distance of the month, your league, and the run data of ranked runs: the run's seed and your inputs. To rank players, hand out monthly cosmetic rewards, and check scores against cheating by replaying the run on the server. Performance of a contract; legitimate interest in fair play for the score checks
Purchases The product, the store transaction ID and the signed receipt from Apple or Google, which our server verifies. The purchase is then recorded with your online save. No payment details. To deliver what you bought exactly once, restore it, and handle refunds and fraud. Performance of a contract; legal obligation (accounting records)
Crash and error reports Sent to Unity's Diagnostics service when the game crashes or hits an error: device model, operating system version, game version, graphics setting, language, current screen and the technical error trace. Never your nickname or player ID in plain text. To find and fix bugs. Legitimate interest in a game that works

Your phone also keeps a local copy of your progress and settings so the game works offline. That copy stays on your device.

Like any internet service, the servers we use see your device's IP address when the game connects. We do not use it to locate you or build a profile.

03What other players see

If you play ranked runs, your public profile is visible to other players in the leaderboard: your portrait, portrait ornament, name plate, nickname, league, best distance of the month and the robot skin you are wearing. Nothing else.

Your nickname is public, so please don't use your real name or anything personal. Nicknames must use the Latin alphabet, and we may rename or remove a nickname that breaks the Terms of Use.

04What we don't do

  • No advertising in the current version, and no advertising ID (IDFA or Android advertising ID) is collected.
  • No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
  • No selling or renting of personal data, ever.
  • No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
  • No profiling or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. The anti-cheat check only decides whether a ranked score stands.

05Planned changes (not active yet)

Two features are planned but not in the current version:

  • Rewarded ads through Unity LevelPlay: optional videos you choose to watch in exchange for an in-game reward.
  • Linking with Game Center (iOS) and Google Play Games (Android), so your progress can follow you to a new phone.

We will update this policy before either feature ships, describe the data involved and the partners concerned, and ask for your consent in the game where the law requires it.

06Who processes the data

We use a small number of service providers. They process data on our behalf and under contract, and only for the purposes above.

ProviderRoleData involved
Unity TechnologiesGame backend: Authentication, Cloud Save, Leaderboards, Cloud Code (server logic and receipt checks), DiagnosticsPlayer ID, online save, leaderboard entries and run data, purchase receipts, crash reports
AppleApp Store distribution, in-app payments, TestFlightPayment and order data, handled by Apple under its own privacy policy. If you test through TestFlight, Apple also shares with us the data its TestFlight terms describe, such as the email you were invited with, crash logs and the feedback you send.
GoogleGoogle Play distribution and in-app paymentsPayment and order data, handled by Google under its own privacy policy
VercelHosting of this websiteTechnical request data (see This website)

Their own privacy policies: Unity, Apple, Google and Vercel.

When you buy something, Apple or Google is the seller of record for the payment. They receive the information they need to charge you; we only receive the receipt that proves the purchase.

07Transfers outside the EU

Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. When that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires: the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

08How long we keep it

DataKept for
Anonymous account and online saveUntil you erase them (in the game or by email).
Current monthly leaderboardFor the month in progress.
Archived leaderboards and their run data6 months at most after the month ends, then deleted.
Purchase recordsAs long as French law requires for accounting and tax records (up to 10 years), kept apart from your game data.
Crash and error reportsA limited period set by Unity's Diagnostics service, then deleted automatically. They are not linked to your account.

09Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on legitimate interest, you can object at any time.

To use any of these rights, email astrotixi@gmail.com. Because your account is anonymous, we need a way to find it: your nickname, your platform and roughly when you last played. We answer within one month.

If you think we got something wrong, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL, or to the authority in your own country. We would appreciate the chance to fix it first.

10Deleting your data

In the game: Settings › Privacy and help › Erase my progress, then confirm twice. This deletes your online save and your Unity player account (the anonymous ID) on the server, and your progress on the phone. Uninstalling the game alone does not delete the data on the server.

Step-by-step instructions, the email option and what is kept are on the Delete your account and data page.

11Children

NEON SWARM is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has used the online features, email us and we will delete the related data.

If rewarded ads arrive later (see Planned changes), any consent the game asks for will follow the age of digital consent where you live, which is 15 in France; younger players will not be asked to consent to personalised advertising.

12Security

Data between the game and the servers travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Purchases are verified on the server, not trusted from the phone. Access to the game backend is limited to the people who run the game. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to the minimum the game needs.

13This website

neonswarm.dev sets no cookies, runs no analytics and no trackers, and stores nothing on your device.

  • Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical data needed to deliver the pages and protect the service, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in short-lived server logs.
  • Everything else is served from neonswarm.dev itself, fonts included. Your browser makes no request to any other company while you read this site.
  • Email. The "Get notified" and contact links open your own email app. If you write to us, we use your address only to answer you or, if you asked, to tell you when the game launches. Ask us anytime and we delete it.

14Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, such as adding ads or account linking, we will also tell you in the game before the change applies.
